For content and SEO teams

AI visibility for SEO teams: track the answers, not just the rankings.

See which prompts mention you, which sources AI cites, and whether AI referrals turn into revenue—next to Search Console and the analytics you already use.

The new SERP

Your rankings are one surface. The answer is another.

A page can rank #3 and still be absent from the AI Overview. A competitor can rank below you and own the ChatGPT recommendation. A comparison article you've never pitched can be the source behind both.

SEO teams now have two jobs:

1. Be findable in search results. 2. Be included in the answers that summarize those results.

Rankings don't show the answer

A position tells you where a link appears. It doesn't tell you whether the AI mentioned you, how it described you, or which competitor it recommended.

AI answers can end the click

An AI Overview or ChatGPT answer can satisfy the question without a visit. That's not automatically bad—but you need to know whether you're being summarized accurately, ignored, or replaced.

Citations come from everywhere

AI answers are built from review sites, directories, comparisons, documentation, and third-party articles. Your own pages are only part of the input.

AI visibility is a new measurement layer for SEO. It doesn't replace rankings, Search Console, or keyword research. It tells you what the answer says. AI referral traffic shows whether that platform sends anyone.

A practical workflow

From prompt gap to content brief in five steps.

  1. 1

    Baseline the prompts that matter

Start with the questions your buyers ask before they know you: “best [category] for [audience],” “[competitor] alternative,” “[your brand] vs [competitor],” “how do I [job to be done],” “is [your brand] good for [use case].”

On a paid plan, add 10 prompts on Starter or 30 on Growth and above. Prompts are account-wide, so the limit is shared across all websites.

  2. 2

    Find the gaps

Open the competitor gap view to find prompts where competitors appear and you don't. Then look at citations: which sources keep showing up? A review site, a comparison page, a directory, a documentation page?

  3. 3

Build the page the answer needs

Match the content to the gap. Comparison gap → build a fair “vs” or “alternative” page. Definition gap → write the clearest explanation of the category. Use-case gap → build a page for the specific audience or job. Integration gap → document the integration better than anyone else. Pricing gap → make pricing and packaging easy to cite accurately. Citation gap → earn a listing/review/mention on the source the AI trusts.

  4. 4

Improve the inputs, not the score

AI answers are generated from sources. You can influence the inputs: publish specific, factual comparison pages; keep product facts consistent across the site; add original data, screenshots, and clear definitions; get listed in the directories and review sites AI cites; pitch the publications that keep appearing in citations; fix outdated third-party pages that describe you incorrectly.

  5. 5

    Measure each layer

Use three layers together: Search Console for queries, pages, clicks, impressions, CTR, and average position; AI visibility for mentions, share of voice, sentiment, position, citations, and competitor gaps; AI referrals + revenue for what arrived from AI platforms, and what paid.

The useful question

Is this a content gap, a citation gap, or a positioning gap?

A prompt can improve in visibility without sending traffic. A referral can arrive without a mention. Measure both; don't collapse them into one number.

The dashboard

The SEO metrics that fit next to your existing stack.

Search Console, connected

Connect Google Search Console or Bing Webmaster Tools. See queries, pages, countries, clicks, impressions, CTR, and average position next to your analytics. Google also reports device data; Bing does not.

Important: this is Search Console data, not a daily rank tracker. It shows the average position Google/Bing reports, not a live SERP position for every keyword.

Question it answers: Which search queries and pages are earning attention?

Top pages and entry pages

See the pages people land on and the pages they read. Find the content that attracts qualified visitors—and the pages that send them away.

Question it answers: Which content deserves the next update?

AI visibility overview

Track mentions, share of voice, sentiment, average position, and citations across ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google AI Overview.

Question it answers: Are we part of the answer?

Competitor gaps

See prompts where competitors appear and you don't. Use the gap list to route the clearest opportunity to content, PR, or product marketing.

Question it answers: Which answer should we earn next?

Citations

See which domains and sources the AI used. If the same review site or comparison page appears across prompts, that's a relationship to build.

Question it answers: Which sources shape the answer?

Topic view

Use topic labels to group prompts: category, comparison, pricing, integration, use case. See whether a gap is a one-off or a topic-level problem.

Question it answers: Is this a page problem or a content strategy problem?

AI referral traffic

Group traffic from ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini, Copilot, and other AI tools. See which pages AI sends people to—and what they do next.

Question it answers: Is AI referral traffic producing visits?

AI referral revenue

Connect Stripe or Dodo to see payments from AI-referred sessions by platform. See which AI source is linked to revenue, not just sessions.

What works

AI answers reward clarity, specificity, and third-party proof.

There is no guaranteed formula for AI citations. But the inputs are visible: clear facts, consistent product information, useful comparisons, and sources that AI already trusts. These content types are a practical starting point.

Comparison pages

A fair “Analytise vs X” page that states where each product wins—and where it doesn't—is easier to cite than a one-sided attack. AI answers need trade-offs, not marketing copy.

Alternative pages

“X alternative for [audience]” pages work when they're specific about the audience, the use case, and the migration path. Generic “best alternative” pages are crowded.

Definition pages

“What is AI visibility?” and “What is AI referral traffic?” are category-defining questions. A clear definition with examples is more citable than a product page.

Original data

A small, honest benchmark—“AI referral traffic by platform for 20 SaaS sites”—is more useful than another opinion piece. Publish the method, the sample, and the limits.

Integration documentation

“Does [product] work with [tool]?” is a high-intent question. Clear setup docs, permissions, and limitations are citation-ready.

Pricing transparency

Public pricing with limits and caveats is easier for AI to summarize accurately than “contact sales.”

What this is not

An AI visibility layer—not a replacement for your SEO stack.

Analytise is website analytics + AI visibility + payment revenue. It is not:

  • A rank tracker with daily SERP positions for every keyword.
  • A keyword research tool with search volume and difficulty.
  • A backlink analysis or disavow tool.
  • A content optimization score or AI detector.
  • An enterprise AI-search platform with nine engines and daily tracking.
  • A white-label client reporting platform.

Why we say this

SEO teams already have tools for rankings, keywords, and backlinks. Analytise adds the answer layer next to traffic and revenue. If you need enterprise AI-search depth, Profound (more engines) or Otterly (daily GEO workflows) may fit better. Use the right tool for each job.
